As part of its second season, Modus Ensemble presents world renowned director Ann Bogart and the Saratoga International Theater Institute in "The Medium", a vivid example of expressionist theater inspired by the life and predictions of Marshall McLuhan. Conceived and directed by Bogart, "The Medium" was praised by the New York Times for its "compelling, perfectly harnessed energy". "The Medium" explodes McLuhan's theories of technology into a whirling kaleidoscope of innovative movement and theatrical montage, taking spectators through what Bogart calls a "hallucinogenic voyage" through our newly developed psyche." Influenced by the postmodern dance world of the late sixties, Bogart has teamed with SITI co-Artistic Director Tadashi Suzuki to reinvent methods that produce plays, creating a whole new vocabulary for the physical and movement side of theater.
